What is Seichim ? Seichim is the name for an energy healing and self-transformational system. It was originally received by Patrick Zeigler in 1980 while in Egypt. There are a variety of names used to describe this energy, and each system has a different means of accessing the energy. It is known as Seichim, Sekhem, Seichem, and SKHM. There are variants such as Isis Seichim, and Archangelic Seichim. Whether it is referred to as Seichim, Seichem, Sekhem, or SKHM, all are manifestations of "Living Light Energy". Some believe that SKHM is an Ancient system of healing wisdom from the Temples of Egypt. The energy signature of this energy is that of the "Infinity" symbol (sideways number "8"). Seichim is Living Light Energy. Within that framework, there are many definitions of how the word "SKHM" might be translated. They include: Power, Might, Shrine, The Natural Power, Vital Power of Man, Any Power Spiritual or Physical, God's of the Shrine, or Dwelling Place of the Gods. (As Patrick taught, it is important to note that in the above list, the word "skhm" is used to describe both the "place" and the "power". There is a difference in the Egyptian Hieroglyphs used for the Place and the Power. The Hieroglyphs for the Place use a Solar Disk, Falcon, chick and man. The Hieroglyphs for the Power use a Downward arrow and Man. Patrick believed that Skhm is both a Place and a Great Power. History and development Seichim has been around for a very long time. It is mentioned quite often in the Egyptian Book of the Dead and other sacred Egyptian texts. However, the references to Seichim/Sekhem in the Egyptian Book of the Dead refer to this place of power and not to a hands on healing method or energy connection method. The energy was rediscovered by Patrick Zeigler when he spent a night in the Great Pyramid in Egypt in 1980. Asked who introduced or initiated him to the energy, Zeigler does not credit any one particular Deity, he believes it was the energy itself that lead him all over the world in search of itself. He does not see a difference in the energy itself and the Source/God/Goddess/Creator. This is part of his own account of what happened during that night in the Pyramid "That night I came down into the Kings Chamber and laid down in the sarcophagus. It was haunting and exciting at the same time. I began to hear a deep sound coming up the Grand Gallery. I first thought it was a guard then realised it was not human [as] it made its way towards me and slowly began to hover above me in a figure eight pattern. I was in so much fear I thought I would die. Then a voice inside said, "This is why you have come." At that point I felt my heart open and let go of the fear, it was beautiful the sound I heard was actually that of my own heart and I was afraid of it! I spent the rest of the night in Bliss." ) He describes the colour of the energy as electric blue to pearl essence, brilliant white to the point of blackout (i.e. so brilliant as to be beyond the scope of human vision). After spending the night in the Pyramid Patrick found a Sufi Master and received attunements and teachings in Sudan and then continued to be a member of the Peace Corps in Nepal before returning to the States. It was after his return that he was introduced to Reiki and received his attunements to all three levels by Barbara Ray in Santa Fe, NM. After that he met Christine Gerber in California who was channelling a being named Marat. Marat told Patrick that what he was doing was not Reiki but something called Seichim. As this was channelled information, according to Patrick, it was difficult to determine the exact spelling of the name. Patrick stated that, "Marat was the one who gave the energy I was channelling a name. Up to that point it was only the most brilliant source of light I have ever seen. There was also an angelic choir-like sound connected to it." Marat also gave Patrick the symbol Cho Ku Ret with the specific purpose of transmuting inanimate objects with the energy, or to enable crystals to channel the energy by attuning them with the symbol. Information about doing attunements was passed on by Marat as well, however, this was not very clear so Patrick started using some of the Reiki techniques for passing Seichim attunements. Patrick stated that, "It was all quite vague so I spoke to him (Marat) in terms of what I had learned in Reiki. He instructed me to use some of that procedure then add the Infinity symbol (The pattern in the Pyramid) and call it Seichim". Patrick began teaching in 1984. One of the first people to receive a combined Reiki/Seichim attunement from Patrick was TOm Seaman, who then proceeded to work with the energy and developed it further on his own. His system and the other branches of the energy will be discussed in further a detail later on. According to Patrick, he now believes that SKHM (Seichim / Seichem / Sekhem) does not have to be a complex system to learn. In his experience, many people are able to connect fully in a matter of minutes. For others the time may vary. The more time anybody spends working with the energy on a regular basis for an extended period of time, the deeper and fuller the experience of SKHM will be for that person. Phoenix Summerfield (a.k.a. Kathleen McMasters) was the next step in the evolution of the branches of Seichim. She received the attunement from TOm and started teaching her own system with added symbols (This will be described later as the Seichim 7 Facet System). She was in contact with and supported in her teaching by Patrick. Kathleen Milner came into contact with Seichim through Phoenix Summerfield in 1991, and developing the system further by adding symbols from her students called it Tera Mai Reiki, and from that developed Tera Mai Seichim. William Rand further developed the system and called it Karuna Reiki . Sekhem - another way to spell Seichim - was introduced by Helen Belot. She was a student of Deepa Slaughter and Phoenix Summerfield. Sekhem is the original spelling used in the Egyptian Book of the Dead. Helen added more and began introducing the Goddess Sekhmet as a major part of her teachings. Others have had similar additions, there is also Isis Seichim and Kuan Yin Seichim. Asked as to who the Lineage Bearer of Seichim/SKHM is Patrick emphasises that it is very much a group oriented energy and that he is in agreement with both TOm and Phoenix that it should not in any way be separated. He considers all the branches to be part of what SKHM is today and refers to himself as the Founder of SKHM as he is the one who originally rediscovered it, but rejects the term Lineage Bearer, as the nature of the energy to him is more holographic than linear.
